Sound! Music Hub is seeking an experienced, visionary leader to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of music education across six vibrant Northwest communities.

About Sound!

Sound! Music Hub is part of a national network of 43 music hubs, proudly serving Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Warrington. Led by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and funded by the Department for Education through Arts Council England. We work with over 550 schools and reach more than 210,000 children and young people, including those who are home-educated or in alternative provision.

Our mission is simple but vital: to ensure that every child and young person can enjoy, experience, and champion music both in and out of school. We are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and we place youth voice at the heart of our work.

Please note: Although part of the Liverpool City Region, the Wirral is served by the Cheshire and Wirral Music Hub.

The Role

As Chair, you will lead our Board of Trustees, guiding Sound!’s strategic direction, governance, and public profile. You’ll work closely with our core team, youth trustees, and partners to ensure the Hub delivers on its mission and continues to grow as a vital part of the region’s cultural and educational landscape.

Key responsibilities include:

  • •‍Leading Board meetings and supporting strong, accountable governance
  • •‍Advocating for our work across cultural, educational, and community sectors
  • •‍Building collaborative relationships across the region and beyond
  • •‍Championing our values of inclusion, creativity, and empowerment

 

Time Commitment & Terms

  • •‍Voluntary role (unremunerated)
  • •‍Approx. 1–2 days/month, including meetings, preparation, and ambassadorial duties
  • •‍Initial term of 3 years, renewable
