About the Role

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority delivers major projects and services that make a real difference to people’s lives – from transport and skills to regeneration, culture, net zero and economic growth.
We are looking for a talented communications professional who combines excellent corporate communications skills with a passion for creating engaging content.
This is not a traditional press officer role.
You will work with journalists, write press releases and handle media enquiries, but you'll also be expected to spot great stories, develop creative campaign ideas and bring them to life through compelling content across digital, social and traditional channels
You'll play a key role in promoting the work of the Mayor and Combined Authority through a blend of media relations, storytelling and content creation, initially with a primary focus on transport but working across a whole range of CA business too.
Key Responsibilities
- •Generate positive media coverage across regional, national, specialist and trade media.
- •Identify and develop compelling stories from across the Combined Authority's wide-ranging programmes and services.
- •Draft press releases, reactive statements, briefing materials and media lines.
- •Manage relationships with journalists, stakeholders and partners.
- •Create engaging content for social media, websites, and internal and external digital platforms.
- •Shoot and edit photography and video content to support campaigns and news stories.
- •Help develop innovative communications approaches that reach audiences in new and creative ways.
- •Work with specialist colleagues in marketing, design and digital communications to deliver integrated campaigns.
- •Monitor media and social media activity and evaluate communications performance.
- •Support the delivery of communications plans, campaigns and strategic priorities.

About the person
We are looking for someone who can think creatively and work practically – someone who can capture a great photo, shoot and edit video, write engaging copy and develop content that cuts through. You'll work closely with specialist colleagues across design, digital and marketing, while also being confident producing high-quality content yourself.
If you are naturally curious, full of ideas and excited by using modern communications techniques to reach and engage audiences, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll be a strong communicator with excellent news judgement and a talent for spotting stories, you will also have excellent writing skills and the ability to adapt content for different audiences and channels.
You'll understand the fundamentals of media relations but also recognise that modern communications is about much more than securing coverage.
You will have experience working in busy communications, PR, journalism or press office environment and a track record of securing media coverage and delivering engaging digital content.
