About the Role
This role supports the back-office financial functions of the Transport Performance team, ensuring the accurate and timely payment of operators who provide service contracts.
You will analyse financial and performance data, applying due diligence to ensure that payments and decisions represent value for money. You will also help ensure that procedures reflect audit recommendations.
Working closely with colleagues across the Transport Performance team, you will monitor operators’ compliance with contractual requirements, helping to address performance issues and ensuring that any applicable financial penalties are correctly applied through the operator payment process.
You will develop a sound understanding of contract conditions and how they relate to the team’s financial and performance responsibilities. You will also support the review of contractual conditions to ensure they remain aligned with current procedures and working practices.
The role will also involve acting as a key point of contact between the Transport Performance team’s financial functions and internal and external stakeholders, helping to ensure effective communication and the smooth operation of financial processes.
About the person
The sucessful candidate will have experience in Bus/Transport operator contract payments for supported services with the use of the EP Morris ICT system.
You will understand the function of ensuring that payments are accurate, paid in a timely manner and in accordance with the conditions of contract and associated financial procedures.
You will have previous experience with assisting in monitoring the performance of Bus/Transport providers in a positive, customer focussed manner. Bringing to attention with relevant members of the Transport Performance Team when performance falls below standard so that appropriate and corrective action can be taken.
You can demonstrate knowledge of entering various One-Off Costs into the EP Morris system such as emergency revenue, service credit penalties and one-off contract adjustments to be offset against the operator contract payments. Ensuring that the costs entered are accurate and that relevant financial procedures have been followed
You will have a developed understanding of the Conditions of Contract for bus supported services and have assisted in the review of the conditions to ensure that they are fit for purpose and reflect a more commercial approach to service delivery.
