About the Role

Please note that this post is offered as a two-year fixed term contract.

We are seeking an individual to help inspire, empower and enable local communities and stakeholders to engage with nature, supporting delivery of the combined authority’s biodiversity, climate and nature recovery ambitions as part of our work leading the LCR Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS).

The LCR Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS), adopted by the Combined Authority in March 2026, sets out where and how investment in restoring habitats and improving public access to nature should be prioritised, across 36 priority areas for nature recovery. Following publication of the LNRS, efforts are now focused on enabling delivery, including a role in coordination, monitoring and building a case for investment in nature recovery and wider environmental delivery.

To support this activity, the LCRCA plans to establish a Nature Hub that will provide guidance, resources and project development tools to help partners seek funding and deliver on-the-ground action. Strong community and stakeholder support exists for greater nature recovery activity, with particular support for better access to nature to enhance mental and physical wellbeing and health outcomes.

The Combined Authority is growing our ability to act as convenor and supporter of action on climate themes across the LCR. We are looking for an individual with excellent collaboration and co-operation skills, capable of building strong relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders. The role will involve developing and maintaining close working relationships with internal teams, our Liverpool City Region Local Authority partners, key external stakeholders and a wide range of local community groups. Ability to work independently, develop and deliver meaningful programmes of engagement will be critical to the success of this role.

Our related environmental work covers an exceptionally broad agenda, with diverse themes such as climate change and resilience, integrated water management, air quality and transport, health and wellbeing, carbon and environment literacy, sustainable energy, food, rural issues and agriculture forming key linkages and interdependencies with the nature recovery agenda. For this reason, flexibility to work across a broad range of environmental and associated themes is highly desirable. This is an exciting time of change, with a rapidly evolving national and local policy. This role presents an opportunity to shape the Liverpool City Region approach to nature recovery and environmental sustainability.

You will be expected to liaise with internal and external groups, forming a key link between technical ecological delivery and public engagement, ensuring that community voices meaningfully shape nature recovery initiatives.
